 Rajiv Gandhi Anna Yojana

The National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA) has been passed by the Parliament. The Government of Himachal Pradesh has instituted the Rajiv Gandhi Anna Yojana (scheme) to distribute the subsidized ration as per the NFSA. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh inaugurated the scheme from The Ridge, Shimla, in a spectacular function on 20th September 2013. People would start receiving subsidized ration under the scheme from 1st October 2013.

Who can receive the subsidized ration under Rajiv Gandhi Anna Yojana?


The The following categories of people/households would be selected as beneficiaries under the scheme automatically:-

 1. Antyodaya Anna Yojana households.

 2. Annapurna Anna Yojana households.

 3. Below Poverty Line households.

 4. Households receiving PDS ration at BPL rates.

 5. Households of families receiving pension from the Department of SC, OBC and Minorities Affairs .

 6. Households of Tibetans having PDS permit.

Apart from these, more people would be selected by the Gram Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies as per Selection Guidelines which are notified by the government (see below).
